Authoria Appoints Paul Baier as Senior Vice President of Products

Former Founder of Excara, and Executive from Open Market and Charles River Ventures Joins Authoria to Lead Products Group and Development Initiatives

Waltham, MA – February 23, 2004 – 

Authoria, Inc., the world leader in personalized, Web-based human resource communication, today announced the appointment of Paul Baier to senior vice president of products.  Baier is responsible for the engineering, product management, corporate development and the company’s overall product and technology strategy and direction.

In previous roles, Baier was the founder and CEO of Excara, a software solution company for online business, which evolved into an e-commerce solution for manufacturers.  Excara was a product of Baier’s experience in business-to-business e-commerce for Open Market, an enterprise software company and early pioneer in e-commerce, where he was director of the business-to-business division.  Prior to Open Market, Paul was director of small business content at America Online (AOL).  In all three roles, Paul defined and successfully launched significant new products. In addition, Paul was also director of business development at Charles River Ventures, a top-tier venture capital firm also based in Waltham, where he established critical relationships with CIOs for the benefit of the firm, as well as building a pipeline of new portfolio and investment leads for the firm.
