James McDevitt

As President and CEO of Authoria, Jim directs the strategy, operations, and growth of the leading provider of comprehensive talent management solutions.

Jim joined the company in November 2008, bringing 27 years of management and technology-industry experience, including a track record of identifying business opportunity, driving company growth, and delivering customer success. Additionally, Jim has significant skills in enhancing the market growth, customer commitment, and overall operational efficiency of several public software companies. Jim is excited at the prospect of expanding Authoria’s leadership position in the fast-growing talent-management market.

Prior to joining Authoria, Jim served as Chief Operating Officer of CDC Software, a global provider of enterprise software solutions and services. Earlier, he held several executive roles with Geac Computer Corp., a provider of enterprise business applications, and was Chief Financial Officer of Clarus Corporation, a business-to-business procurement-solutions provider.

Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an M.B.A. in Finance from Bentley College.

Jim is moving back to Boston, after enjoying many years of excellent golf in the Atlanta area.

Tod Loofbourrow

Tod founded Authoria in 1997 and served as President and CEO until November 2008. As Chairman, Tod is responsible for Authoria's long term vision. Collaborating closely with Jim McDevitt and the Board, Tod plays an active role in defining future company strategy and serves as a frequent speaker on talent management industry trends.

Tod came to high technology early, authoring his first of four books on technology at the age of 16. He taught at Harvard University for eight years, where he created and delivered the university's first courses in Internet commerce and in knowledge-based systems. Tod has served on several boards of directors including Neuralware and Cyclists Fighting Hunger.

Tod received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University – where he served as editor-in-chief of the Harvard International Review – and has performed graduate work at both Harvard and Oxford University.

His passions include cycling for cancer research, competitive rowing, blues guitar, and building great companies.

Stephen Lifshatz

Steve is charged with overseeing Authoria's financial direction and is responsible for finance, accounting, facilities, and treasury management.

Before joining Authoria, Steve served as Senior Vice President and CFO of Lionbridge Technologies, a $450-million publicly held software company. Steve played an active role in the tremendous growth of Lionbridge, from securing VC funding through the company’s IPO and secondary offerings. Steve built a worldwide finance organization and managed 12 acquisitions, led the company through SEC reporting changes such as Sarbanes-Oxley, and served as the company’s liaison with the investment community.

Prior to this, Steve served as Vice President and CFO for The Dodge Group, an international software company, and as Vice President and Controller for Marcam Corporation, from its inception as a $3-million startup to a $325-million publicly held software company.

Steve holds a B.A. in accounting from Skidmore College.

For many years, Steve has been wanting to spend more time behind his camera.

Walter Mello

Walter MelloWalter Mello is responsible for overseeing the global customer support organization and maintaining Authoria’s reputation for superior customer service.

Walter came to Authoria in December 2008 after 31 years in the hardware and software industry. Walter brings his knowledge in sales and marketing management, service delivery management and operations management to Authoria’s already stellar customer service team.

Prior to joining Authoria, Walter worked as the Director, Worldwide Managed Print Services for Hewlett-Packard. During his five years at HP, he also worked as a director of Solutions and Partners for Technology Services in the Americas as well as Business Management and Planning for Technology Services. He also spent time with the Compaq Computer Corporation, Inc., Concentra Management Care, and 14 years with Digital Equipment Corporation where he was the District Service Manager.

Walter received his MBA from Babson College, and his BS from Boston University. He has received the Circle of Excellence award five times and was selected to be a management representative for the 2004 MVP event.

Walter spends most of his free time with his family in Medfield, MA and at their vacation home in Maine. Although he claims to not be any good, Walter enjoys the casual competition, the company of his son and beautiful settings that come with playing golf.

Ganne Howard

Ganne is charged with leading Authoria's Customer Care organization and is responsible for managing the relationships with all of our customers and assuring customer success and satisfaction. Ganne also manages our Customer Advisory Council.

Ganne has been with Authoria since the beginning with over 10 years of service. During that time she has held a number of leadership positions in both the product and the customer-facing organizations.

Ganne brings over 30 years of experience in human resources, finance, and employee benefits. Prior to joining Authoria, Howard was a principal and the benefits practice leader for Executive Alliance, a full-service human resources consulting firm. She also served as benefits director at BankBoston as well as vice president of benefits at Bank of New England and spent over 12 years at Data General Corporation, where she held management positions in benefits, human resource information systems, and risk management.

Ganne loves to travel for both business and pleasure. Hawaii is her personal favorite.

Andrew Smith

Andy is responsible for Authoria’s software development, product management, and quality engineering organizations where he drives the delivery of the company’s best-of-breed talent management solutions.

Andy has over 20 years of experience across a variety of technology areas including application development, network engineering, technology operations, and mergers and acquisitions. Most of Andy's career has been spent in the technology industry, as well consulting in the fields of data warehousing and business intelligence systems. Prior to joining Authoria he managed technology and development organizations at Geac, Lycos, Honeywell, and Stratus Computer.

Andy received his B.A. degree from Northeastern University.

On weekends he enjoys spending his time coaching his two children on the soccer field.

James Bowley

Jim leads the product management team within Authoria. In this role, he partners closely with clients and prospective clients in conjunction with the Authoria team to define and prioritize solution capabilities.

While at Authoria, Jim previously served in a variety of roles within the sales and professionals services organizations. Before joining Authoria, Jim held positions in organizational and communications consulting with Mercer HR Consulting and Towers Perrin.

Jim has also taught at Boston College where he earlier earned his B.A. and M.A.

Stephen Bruce

Stephen is responsible for designing and implementing the company's talent management practices and leading the delivery of organizational management and HR services for the company.

Stephen brings over 15 years of experience in the management and delivery of human resources in the software industry. Over the past 10 years, Stephen held executive HR management positions for CDC Software, Infor Global Solutions and eCredit Corporation. Most recently, at CDC Software, Stephen was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, directing global HR for this $400 million enterprise provider of ERP, CRM and SCM solutions. Previously, he directed global HR for the strategic solutions group of Infor and was the Vice President of Human Resources for eCredit. Stephen holds extensive experience in all facets of HR including: executive leadership, talent management, mergers and acquisitions, organizational development and integration, performance management, competency development, international management and incentive/compensation programs and planning in diverse and dynamic software organizations.

Stephen served as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and Reserve Naval Mobile Battalion from 1987 to 1993.

Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and being a member of his tennis team.

Alys Scott

Aly is responsible for Authoria's corporate communications strategy and execution, and also contributes to marketing program direction and sales support.

Aly brings 20 years of experience from the corporate communications, marketing, investor relations and public relations disciplines. Most of her career has been in the software industry, with time spent on both the corporate and consulting agency sides. Before joining Authoria, Aly was vice president of corporate communications for Geac, a global performance management solutions provider, where she worked with financial and industry analysts, business and trade media, customers and partners, and internal audiences to set communications direction during turnaround and acquisition phases.

Prior to joining Geac, Aly was general manager of Miller Consulting Group, a leading technology communications consultancy in Boston. She also worked in different management, marketing and communications capacities at International Data Group, Shandwick Public Relations and Entex Information Systems. She began her career in New York working in advertising at Wells, Rich, Greene and Young and Rubicam.

Aly is a third generation apiarist and currently manages six hives nurturing nearly 500,000 bees throughout the year.

Joe Kaddis

Joe is a proven and results-oriented sales leader with over 18 years of business development and corporate sales experience. Joe is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction and growth of Authoria's sales team.

Before joining Authoria, Joe was most recently vice president of North American Sales and Business Development for Panorama Software where he was responsible for the overall management, strategic direction and growth of the company’s direct, technical and consulting sales teams. Prior to his time at Panorama Software, Kaddis served as director of financial services for North America at Hyperion (which was acquired by Oracle in April of 2007), where he managed revenues of more than $50 million. Kaddis began his career at Microsoft as a sales representative managing major accounts, including GE, Pepsi and GTE, among others, and was identified as North American Education Sales Representative of the year in 1992.

Joe received both a BA and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
